Touting our own horn it may seem but from the perspective of all three partner organizations, the most significant asset of ADAPT is its team. As of September 2007, six Vietnamese nationals headed by Huỳnh thị Tuyết Vân as Assistant Director represent the core ADAPT team in Long Xuyen, An giang.
The core team is supported by other tireless long-term volunteers such as Lily Phan, and Linda Tran from VIA, as well as a roster of professionals back in the US. This past 2007 summer, five short-term volunteers joined the team to teach English to ADAPT school teachers and ADAPT students in a pilot program supported by Volunteers in Asia (VIA).
Diep Vuong, President of Pacific Links Foundation, currently serves as Managing Director of ADAPT. Diep has envisioned and championed the cause of ADAPT from day one and continues to spend sleepless and jetlagged nights on the program.
Chi Xuan Nguyen Sutter, ADAPT first Program Director, has inspired everyone to do more for the recipients during her first year tenure in Long Xuyen. Chi Xuan had foregone the comfort of her Swiss home, not to be based in bustling Saigon, but in remote Long Xuyen, where the availability of electricity remains a challenge on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, Chi Xuan had to return from Long Xuyen to take care of family matters. Chi Xuan continues to support ADAPT in her new volunteer role as ADAPT Development Director.
Chi Kieu-Nhi Le, whose prior 15 years of humanitarian projects in Vietnam, has brought on board new ties and good will. Chi Nhi comes from the beautiful Bay Area in California to withstand the heat and rain of the border towns in An Giang & Dong Thap.
Every single staff and volunteer is a donor to ADAPT. The cohesion of the core team has allowed ADAPT to be consistent in its community-building messages and build the trust with families, local communities, schools and officials.
The office is also the home to several staff who come from outside of Long Xuyen. The seamless integration of interns and other volunteers is a testament to the persuasion of ADAPT message.
Join our growing family!
